So, Team Shadow are the baddies. We know that. But what's their goal? It's not to steal Pokemon. It's not to "liberate" Pokemon. It's even not to destroy the world so that a new world can be made. Their goal is to destroy all humans, even themselves, to protect Pokemon from "abusive trainers". Every once in a while, they attack the Pokemon Professor's Lab. They are not easily held back. Most of the time, when they defeat Trainers, they force the Trainer to let their Pokemon go. They drag the Trainer to their Headquarters and that's the end of it. Sometimes Trainers escape or are let go, but these Trainers almost never have a clue where they've been or why they can't remember anything, and the few who do remember are vague at best.
